Willowfield is a Church family of all ages, where everyone is welcomed, given the opportunity to belong, encouraged to get involved, to apply the Christian faith to the challenges we face in life, and to grow and mature as we are transformed by the love of God and the power of his Holy Spirit.
“The meeting place is the training place for the market place.”
In an inner city area of high social deprivation (10% most deprived in Northern Ireland) we are committed to being ‘in the community, for the community‘. We try to reach out to all the homes in our parish in helpful and meaningful ways that lead to us being able to share Christ with them and see local people become his disciples.
Outreach and evangelism is firmly at the top of our agenda. Over the last decade the Church has grown significantly, and in particular with growing numbers of young people, young families and middle aged couples. Many of these people have come to faith in Jesus Christ from the local community.
At the same time we have been able to attract young adults who are looking for meaningful worship, clear Bible teaching, an environment that enables them to receive prayer ministry, exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit and be part of a relational community.
Willowfield is a New Wine resource Church and as such is committed to ministry that is both rooted in the Scriptures, teaching God’s Word and seeing the gifts of the Holy Spirit exercised in all aspects of church life.
We align ourselves wholeheartedly to the doctrinal and missional focus of the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans. Discover more by visiting the GAFCON website to view the Nairobi Communique and the Jerusalem Declaration. This carries the endorsement of our Rector and Select Vestry.
We are particularly committed to equipping and empowering the whole congregation to engage in evangelism in the power of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of prophecy, words of knowledge, words of wisdom, healing and the other gifts of the Holy Spirit feature at our 10am, 11.30am and 7pm services.
In a large church it is very important that people have opportunities to build community, and make real friendships and relationships. Our Life Groups are an important part of that, as well as encouraging small group bible study and ministry. We have a lot of different activities, and there is room for everyone to get involved and play their part.
There is also a strong emphasis on Children’s ministry, Youth ministry and raising up a new generation of young adults to live for Christ, to love His Word, to reach their generation. We want increasingly to be naturally supernatural in our walk with God and to exercise the gifts of the Spirit in the marketplace as well as in church;
